Custom Deco Shoe Bench

I was so excited to present this one of a kind custom Deco Shoe Bench to my client. She was thrilled! This video shows some of the details I designed into the piece of furniture. It matches the architecture and style of my client’s period home. It will sit in the foyer at the top of the stairs. The sandal shelves are on the left, shoes go in the middle drawer and boots to the right. The boot box has a removable water tight tray. A top cushion will be upolstered. 60″L x 20″W x 20″D.

New Work for the Garden

Aluminum Bell with Stainless Accents

I love the details in this sculpture. I used various objects from my years of collecting. It was created using a fire extinguisher, laser cut drop, chain, square washer, vintage twist drill wood handle, stainless steel cable, plow disc and plumbing from my bathroom remodel. – 24″ W x 64″ H

Whirling Orb

I enjoy the variety of materials used to create this piece. There are found objects, plasma cut and laser cut strips of steel. It helps to add interest and texture to the whirling mass. – 40″W, 56″H on stand

Off Circle Orb

This is a one-of-a-kind garden orb. I found a laser cur drop and cut it up to create the sphere. I look forward to creating more by recreating the laser shapes and duplicating the process. – 30″W, 46″H on stand.

Art Deco Tree in it’s New Home

Update to the Providence Festival of the Trees 2016
Providence Festival of the Trees was a successful charity event that I was proud to be a part of last year. The steel deco tree I built raised $7100.00 for Providence hospital’s cancer services and research. Thanks to Artemis for bringing me in on the project. This client photo is of its new home in Hood River. Doesn’t it look perfect in that setting?

press, commissions and remaining shows of the year

 PRESS:

The Oregonian’s Home & Garden section wrote a piece on the Local 14 art show last September. In the article they featured a photograph of my work with small mention. OregonLive’s coverage was more in depth about the show. It included extended copy with additional photographs of my and other participants work.

COMISSIONS:

PROVIDENCE FESTIVAL OF THE TREES
This is the first year a non-living tree will be exhibited and auctioned for the Providence Festival of the Trees this year. It will benefit the hospital’s cancer research and services. I built an 8’H steel art deco tree sculpture for the event. As part of the theme all the elements in the 10×10 booth will be gold, silver and bronze with iconography from the 20’s. That aspect will be designed by my partner on the project, Sam Hull, who runs the non-profit ARTemis. It’s a group that seeks to promote female artists. Here’s a video about their mission.

I am supplying 10 FREE TICKETS TO THE EVENT. Feel free to contact me and I’ll send one or a pair. Please get in touch soon as I’m not sure how long they’ll last.

IRVINGTON TRELLIS SYSTEM
I designed, built and installed a set of four trellises for a beautiful historic Irvington residence. I was inspired by the home’s layered roofline and designed the trellises to capture that 20’s style. Pictured is the clematis and the hydrangea trellis. The clematis is an L-shape to hug the exterior wall of the porch. 4’H x 2’W and 4’H x 9’W. The hydrangea trellis is 4’H x 5’W. They are all powder coated in a neutral grey.

Commissions, client photos, new work & shows

COMISSIONS:

This sign is for a home business in Camas, WA. Elida is a professional artist and painting teacher.

The 40H x 40W sign sits on a 2′ concrete wall at the base of the driveway and along the sidewalk. The 20″ red center piece is her laser cut initial, powder coated. The four corners hold 8″ x 8″ x 1″ slabs of Blenko glass. The box tube frame is filled with a variety of textures; perforated steel, expanded mesh and woven mesh. It’s bolted down with tabs along the base as well as a vertical T bracket.

CLIENT REVIEW: “I am a professional artist who owns my own art studio/gallery. I needed an Art Sign for my studio and gallery that wasn’t your typical sign, but rather an art installation. I loved Shelly’s work and knew that she would be the perfect person to create something specific and unique for my space. I had a special area on on retaining wall where the piece needed to go. She worked with me over the next several months, helping me to come up with the design, the right materials and even how to install the piece. In the end, we were able to put my initial in the middle, in a vibrant red square, stain glass along the sides, and a mix of metals throughout. It is so beautiful and is a show stopper for anyone who visits my studio. I’ve received countless compliments and I am extremely happy with the end result! Now I’m looking for more spaces to have her create other things! She is an amazing artist and person and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with her and have one of her pieces here with me now forever. Elida

This is Debbie and Ron’s new ‘Bubble Screen’ set into their landscape. The tube stock frame contains a variety of disc sizes. They run from 1/16″ thick  to 1″ thick and 3/4″ wide – 13″ wide. The hand bent strap rings are 1/2″ – 1″ thick. This variety allows for lots of movement and depth as you move around the piece. 6’H x 3′ W -client photo
